THE KINGS LAST BATTLE
By Andrew Block
He must vanquish those of the evil crest,
Before he is laid to rest.
As his kingdom from him was stripped,
He readied his sword shiny tipped.
And as his subjects apart were peeled,
He cried with rage on the battlefield.
As he lead his steed through the flood,
Of both men and blade covered in blood.
He let God guide him all the battle through,
And God granted him courage that fiercely grew.
And now that he’d finished…all the evil pawns were down,
It was time for him to face off…with the evil one’s crown.
And in front of him stood…that most evil of man,
Looking with fire in his eyes…the way only Lucifer can.
Armor clashed and drawn steel flew,
Both knowing death would end one of them soon.
A slash to the chest just above the belt,
With adrenalin rushing no pain was felt.
They battled through the night,
Receiving their wounds.
Sealing their fates,
Never again…to see the light of noon.
Finally the evil one crumpled to his knees,
The battle he had lost.
Raising his head he said,
“Are you sure you are not God,
for I know,
That he,
Is the only one,
Who can vanquish me.”
There the evil one died,
The king bent and closed his eyes,
And said a prayer,
Which showed how much he cared.
And when he was done,
His eyes saw in the sky,
God standing on a cloud,
With Gabriel at his side.
God said to the king,
“ You have served me well,
Now the evil one’s soul,
Will dwell in hell.”
The king knew it was his time,
God is always right.
He had ended the fight,
Now he could die.
He had vanquished those of the evil crest,
Now he could be laid to rest.
And he will be,
Remembered…eternally.
